Whale Watching is the twenty-second episode of the third season of Bluey.
Synopsis
Bluey promises her customer Bingo ‘the best tour ever’ in a game of Whale Watching, but they need Mum and Dad to join in and they are too tired to play after a late night.
After staying up late, Mum and Dad are lazing around in the lounge room. The kids however, want to play Whale Watching.
Bluey is the captain and promises Bingo ‘the best tour ever or your money back’! Jumping aboard their boat (Dad), Bluey convinces him there’s rough seas ahead, setting them up for a bumpy ride.
When they finally spot the whale (Mum), she’s too tired to move and Bluey is forced to return Bingo’s money.
It’s not until they watch a whale documentary that suddenly the whale breaches and lands in the boat.
The kids have to abandon ship but find welcome refuge on a nearby island.
Episode Recap
Warning Spoilers!
Tired and aching, naturally the parents would want to move as little as possible, except the kids' (and Chilli's) cheeky demands has Bandit going all the way with the game: rough seas (which he simulates by rocking back and forth), snappy turtles (which he makes with his hands) and tidal waves (which he does by sitting up). When they get to the whale, Chilli's lack of action does not amuse them. Even after they feed her (with junk food, no less, to which she advises the kids not to eat), they can't get her to jump like a whale would. With Chilli guilty and the rest upset and disappointed, Chilli offers them a show about whales.
As they watch the documentary, Chilli witnesses the caring nature of the whale mother, while the kids watch as the whale jumps, commenting that this whale is jumpier than the "whale" they just saw. Chilli, inspired by this loving gesture, turns off the TV to turn the kids' attention to what seems to be the best performance the whole morning: their mum leaping from the couch (in slow-mo) with such magnificence, and landing straight on the "boat".
The kids jump out of the "boat" and "row" their way to a "desert island" (the couch), feeling very satisfied. They don't even need the whale and boat anymore for what they're playing next.
As for the parents, they can finally get some peace and quiet in the end, as Chilli rests on Bandit's tired back; it was all worth it in the end.

Trivia
- The whale doco is narrated by Israeli-born American actress Natalie Portman, who is best known for portraying Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
- This episode is the second to feature a voice with an American accent after Movies.
- The tune that plays throughout the episode is called "The Sailor's Hornpipe." Hornpipes are a type of dance from the British Isles whose movements imitate the actions of a sailor as they perform their duties around the ship.
- When this episode aired on Disney Channel in the US, it was paired with Pizza Girls and Tina.
- Error: The first time that the ship/Bandit has been "steered" into rough seas, stock laughter from Bluey can be heard alongside Bingo's, albeit briefly; this is despite that Bluey does not laugh at this point.
