The Magic Xylophone (also known as Magic Xylophone) is the first episode of the first season, as well as the debut episode of Bluey.
Synopsis
Bluey and Bingo rediscover a magic xylophone that has the power to freeze Dad in space and time, allowing them to move him into lots of hilariously embarrassing positions.
But such a powerful tool makes it hard for Bluey to take turns with Bingo, and despite the threat of Mum taking it away and Bingo's continuous pleading, Bluey is reluctant to give up control.[3]
When their squabbling leads to Dad capturing the xylophone and freezing Bluey, Bingo becomes her only hope.
The girls come to an understanding, working together to reclaim the magic xylophone and once again render Dad powerless.
Bluey and Bingo squabble over their magic xylophone (that has the power to freeze Dad in space and time). Dad seizes control and freezes Bluey, leaving Bingo as her only hope.[3]
Episode Recap
Dad is playing the piano on Bluey when Bingo asks for a turn - despite Bluey's protests that it's still her turn. Dad uses Bingo as the bum-bongo drums and Mum Chilli joins in dancing.
Bingo then finds the "magic xylophone" in the toy box which freezes and unfreezes people with a ding of the "dinger thing" (mallet). Dad is frozen and rearranged first with a finger up his nose, then wearing a boa, antlers and a drawn on mustache. Instead of taking turns however, Bluey takes most of the turns, not giving Bingo a chance.
Mum heads off to work, reminding the kids to take turns and unfreeze their father for toilet breaks. Bluey finally gives Bingo a turn to unfreeze Dad, and they run inside to hide from him under Bluey's bed. When they go looking for him though a squabble breaks out over whose turn it is to use the xylophone, and Dad takes the opportunity to jump out of the cupboard and steals the xylophone from the girls and freezing Bluey.
Dad takes Bluey outside to be a garden gnome with the threat of hosing her down. Luckily, Bingo is hiding in the bushes and unfreezes Bluey while Dad goes to get the hose. When Bluey tries to grab the Xylophone again though, Bingo freezes her, saying that it makes her sad when she won't take turns when they play together. She only unfreezes Bluey after she promises to take turns. The kids then work together to trick Dad into holding the hose into his face and sit on the front steps, companionably enjoying their work.

Trivia
- The song that plays throughout the episode is an arrangement of the third movement of Piano Sonata No. 11 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - better known as "Rondo Alla Turca" or "Turkish March."
- This is one of the five Season 1 episodes to have sneak peaks in 2018, the others being Keepy Uppy, Daddy Robot, Shadowlands, and Fruitbat.[citation needed]
- This was the 2nd episode to air in the US.[citation needed]
- The title card of the episode is "Magic Xylophone," but Bluey's voiceover and bluey.tv give the title as "The Magic Xylophone."
- The episode is one of a few title cards to use more than one line, while later title cards can fit episode names with more than one word in a line.
- The "magic xylophone" in the episode is technically a glockenspiel, as its pitch bars are made of metal, not of wood.
- Long Dog: This marks the first appearance of many reoccurring long dogs, it is seen under the table whilst Bandit is playing Bluey.
- When this episode aired on Disney Channel in the US, it was paired with Keepy Uppy and Shadowlands.
- A clip from this episode was shown in an episode of Mr. Inbetween.

Errors
- When Bandit gets unfrozen in the front yard, clothes and accessories fly everywhere. But when Bandit returns while carrying 'gnome' Bluey to the front yard, the clothes and accessories aren't seen.
- On ABC iview, the subtitles for one of Bingo's lines say "Dad, he's had this many turns" - inaccurately describing Bluey as a male.
