Synopsis[1]
When a heavy summer rain thunders over the Heeler home, Bluey is determined to dam the water in the front yard, while Mum tries to stop her constantly tracking mud into the house.
During a summer downpour, Bluey’s determined to dam the water in the front yard. Whenever Bluey runs inside to get dam supplies, Mum tries to stop her because she’s muddying up the clean house!
When Bluey can’t dam the water on her own, she’s happy to see that Mum’s had a change of heart and is by her side helping her build the dam.
With Mum’s help, it looks like Bluey’s dam’s going to work, until the rain stops! Bluey doesn’t know if her dam worked, but she’s consoled by a double rainbow forming above.
Just as Bluey’s about to go inside, another storm appears, and it starts to rain again…
Episode Recap
Warning Spoilers!
Chilli and Bluey say goodbye to Bandit and Bingo, who are leaving in the car. Soon after they leave, it starts raining. Chilli quickly starts getting the laundry inside, while Bluey plays in the rain. The rainwater goes into the gutter, but leaves stop it from going down the drain, and it flows down the front path. Bluey notices and tries to make a dam with her feet, but it's nowhere near enough. After Chilli finishes gathering the laundry, she grabs an umbrella for Bluey to use. Bluey doesn't see quite what her mother wants, and uses it instead for the dam. After the failed attempt with the umbrella which she tosses aside, she tries using a newspaper, but it won't stay in place. She gets an idea and runs in the house, leaving a trail of rainwater behind. Bluey collects some toy blocks and runs back outside, but Chilli stands in the doorway. They both shout at and over each other, with Chilli showing the mess Bluey has made, while her daughter points to the dam she's making with the blocks in her hand. Eventually, Chilli folds and Bluey heads back out. She places the blocks in a line, but they won't stay in place either.
Chilli calls her daughter, having just cleaned the inside of the house with a mop, and points to a towel she's placed down for Bluey to wipe her feet with. Bluey decides to run for the towel and use it for the dam, despite the horror on Chillis face. Bluey places the towel behind the blocks, which keep them in line. However, the newspaper continues to move, and Bluey decides to steal another towel (despite Chillis anger). The newspaper stays in place, as do the blocks, but the dam is only halfway across the path. Bluey tries to block the water using her legs and hands, but she isn't big enough. Bluey tries to run back inside, but Chilli blocks the door, hockey style. Chili collapses as Bluey breaches inside, grabbing her toyhouse and running back out, leaving a wet & grassy path behind her.
It is at this point that Chilli gives up and retires to her chair on the decking, watching her daughter block the water, and starts to smile. After placing the dollhouse, Bluey uses her feet and hands to cover the rest of the path, but it still isn't enough. Just as the water is about to pass her, her mother steps in with an umbrella, with Bluey very happy seeing her mother join her. But her feet aren't enough, and the water is about to pass through the narrow gap between her feet and the path edge. Bluey looks to her mother, who looks at her umbrella, and sighs, admitting defeat for staying dry. She tosses it, and places her hands into the gap, sealing the dam. The water builds up in front of mother and daughter, and the music swells alongside the flood. Both are excited to see what will happen next, tails wagging furiously, and the water continues to build up, but at the last moment, the rainwater stops moving forward. The both look up, and find that it has stopped raining, The rainwater has stopped dripping down the roof, which stops going down the drain, and the groundwater begins to retreat. Bluey and Chilli get back up, Bluey looking defeated; Chilli is as well, but smiles comfortingly to her daughter. The skies begin to clear and behind the couple is a double rainbow. They both hug each other, tails wagging once again. The rainbow is blocked by the clouds ahead, and Bluey goes to bring her toyhouse inside, but Chilli tells her to not worry about it. They start heading in when thunder rumbles again, and just like that it rains again. Water flows into the gutter, which is blocked from the drain, and flows onto the path. The groundwater passes Chilli and Bluey. They look at one another, for a brief moment, both knowing what needs to be done: They run back to the dam.Appearances
