"I'm not paying for any of this!" ― Old Pug[source]

The Old Pug is a minor character, appearing only in the episode Granny Mobile of Bluey.

Bluey.tv Description

The Old Pug is a grouchy customer at Doreen’s garage sale and Gladys’ arch nemesis. Rude and cantankerous, the Old Pug is partial to a bargain, whacking people with her handbag, and throwing around insults.

She also blows a decent raspberry, is flush with cash, and is pretty handy on a mobility scooter. Fortunately, this cranky lady meets her match with Gladys, who takes her down a peg or two, and rescues Doreen from being swindled!

Biography

The Old Pug visited the cul-de-sac where the Bandit and Chilli Heeler, their children, and their neighbor Doreen lived while Doreen was holding a garage sale. Acting quite rudely, she blamed Doreen when she bumped a table and broke one of Doreen’s items, and refused to offer payment. She also told Chilli off when Chilli suggested that she should pay at least a little. Upon spotting the scooter Doreen had for sale, she wanted to purchase it but began to clash with Muffin Heeler in her granny persona.

When Bandit attempted to redirect the pug to Doreen, she responded rudely, and insulted him when he encouraged Doreen not to accept the pug’s offer of far less money than the scooter was worth. Fortunately, Muffin proved just as belligerent as the old pug, and eventually argued her up to paying $1200. Throughout the argument, the pug continued to act rudely towards everyone. Having at last obtained the scooter, she drove it away with a parting raspberry aimed at the Heelers and Doreen.[1]

Appearance

The Old Pug is a short elderly pug with large glasses which magnify her pupils. She wears a yellow bowler hat with a rose in the brim; a pink dress; an open red coat and carries a yellow purse. She also has a mole on her right cheek.

Personality

The Old Pug is very rude, bossy and spiteful. She insults everybody regardless of how hurtful her words are. She also has a bad temper and is quite violent as shown when she hits Bandit with her purse as he tried to escort her away from Doreen's mobility scooter. However, she appears to be somewhat out of her depth when pitted against someone who can match her bad temper.

Trivia

  • Some fans consider her as the show's first antagonistic character due to her short-tempered behaviour and mean-spirited personality.
  • Her design is very unusual for a standard dog for a few reasons.
    • She is currently the only Bluey character shown to be fully clothed.
      • In addition. She seems to wear thick and somewhat 3D eyeglass lenses compare to the more cartoonish eyeglasses in general like the one Nana wear.
    • Her face is more realistic and looks more like a Real Pug compared to Buddy and his Mother whose face don't match well enough for their real-life Breed.
    • Another unusual design for her is that she has noticeable beard whiskers which is something that is generally not use for adult female characters as it is usually reserved for adult male characters.
  • She bears a resemblance to Buddy, but no relationship is confirmed.
