Mia Setter[1] is a secondary character who occasionally appeared in Bluey. She is Bluey's school buddy.
Biography[]
Mia is a twelve-year-old Orange Belton coated English Setter. She has no known relatives, but is friends with Bluey, Captain,[2] Digger and a number of dogs her age.[3]
During a visit to Glasshouse Primary School, where Mia was assigned as Bluey’s buddy, Bluey asked if they could make a fairy garden. On the way, Mia briefly gave Bluey a piggyback ride, before the two showed each other their cartwheels. As they then raced towards a spot to build the fairy garden, Captain called out to Mia. They chatted briefly before Bluey and Mia headed off and began work on the garden.
As the pair chatted, Bluey asked if Mia was worried about going to high school. Mia claimed that she wasn’t, and Bluey then asked if Mia could write a letter to the fairies. However, they were interrupted by the arrival of Captain and Mackenzie, whom Mia boldly confronted about their presence. Suddenly shy, Captain claimed to be looking for barky boats, and departed when there were apparently none to be found.
Mia started to go back to letter writing, but was distracted by Captain’s visit. Suddenly spotting a piece of bark, she used it as an excuse to go and see Captain and Mackenzie, despite Bluey’s protests. After startling Captain and offering him the bark, Mia suggested that they could go looking for some better pieces. The two older dogs then ran off, leaving their buddies behind.
In the midst of their search, the pair found a fruit tree, and chatted as they picked some for their buddies. They soon became caught up in conversation, and Mia asked Captain whether he was nervous about starting high school. He admitted that he was, and Mia confessed to feeling the same. She then noted hopefully that at least they’d be going there together, a thought that made both of them happy.
Hearing Mackenzie and Bluey calling out their names, the two suddenly remembered their buddies and ran back to them. Both older dogs were apologetic, but Bluey and Mackenzie were simply happy they had returned. Mia and Bluey then went back to their garden, and Mia commenced writing to the fairies again. The fun action turned tender, as Bluey voiced the hopes that Mia would be taken care of in high school and wouldn’t forget to come and play with her. Teary-eyed, Mia dropped her pad and pen and wrapped Bluey in a fond embrace.[4]
At some point, Bluey drew a picture of Mia.[5] Mia and Captain also attended a school fair together.[6] She once gave Bluey some helpful advice about gathering up her negative feelings in order to get rid of them.[7] Mia would also get together with several friends to play cricket. They were joined by Digger’s brother Rusty, and on one occasion Mia winced in sympathy as Rusty was struck a hard blow while batting against Tiny.[8]
Appearance[]
Mia is an Orange Belton coated English Setter[9] flecked and patched with orange spots. Her nose spots make her look like she has freckles. She has a black bag designed with a blue line and a flower pattern.
Personality[]
Mia is nice, kind, loving, smart and caring, though sometimes she can be inattentive, distracted, impatient and careless. She is good friends with Bluey, enjoying various activities with her. Mia is also obviously fond of Captain, to the point of even sharing feelings with him that she didn’t feel comfortable disclosing to Bluey.
