"Because I'm not very good at it am I? Mackenzie's meant to be a Cheetah!" ― Mackenzie's Mum[source]

Mackenzie’s Mum is a secondary character that has appeared in multiple episodes of Bluey.

Bluey.tv Description

Hailing from New Zealand, Mackenzie’s Mum is a border collie. She’s enthusiastic, helpful and a team player, happy to volunteer her time for things like the face painting stall at the school fair.

Sometimes she can be a little unsure of herself and following an ‘interesting’ attempt at turning Mackenzie into a cheetah, she considers pulling the plug on her face-painting ambitions. But with a dose of determination and a pep talk from Bingo, she soon finds that practice makes perfect.

She may live in Australia, but Mackenzie’s Mum remains a loyal fan of the New Zealand rugby team, and takes great pleasure in heckling the neighbours when there’s a Trans-Tasman game on TV. [1]

Biography

Mackenzie’s Mum is friends with Marcus, Daisy, Chilli, Bandit, Chloe’s Mum and Chloe’s Dad. She is the wife of Mackenzie’s Dad, and the mother of Mackenzie.

Appearance

Mackenzie’s Mum is a red Border Collie[2][3] with white, brown and grey fur. She has white legs, hands, tail tip, top chest, muzzle, and eyebrows, brown feet, arms, tail stem, torso, right head, right outer ear, left head, and left outer ear and grey muzzle spots and inner ears. She also has a black nose.

Personality

Mackenzie's Mum is an overall kind and friendly woman who even takes an interest in her son's friends. She loves Mackenzie dearly but can be reproving when he blurts things out without thinking. Mackenzie's Mum also made an effort to help Bingo cheer up after she received disappointing news. In so doing, she was willing to admit to her own uncertainties about her ability to run the face painting booth at a school fair.

A passionate sports fan, she eagerly joined her husband in playfully antagonizing their native Aussie neighbors when New Zealand and Australia's national teams played against each other.

Trivia

  • She is the fifth character to have a redesign between episodes, the first being Calypso, followed by Gruber's Dad, Radley and Chilli. However, Mackenzie's Mum's redesign is the most significant of the five, having a new, unrecognisable look entirely.
  • In "Curry Quest", when Bandit is saying goodbye to Mackenzie and his parents, he refers to them as the "Border Collies" or perhaps a variation such as "Border-Collies". This would imply that that is their family surname.
