Disney+ (accessible here) is an international streaming service owned by Disney. It initially launched in the United States in October 2019, and is currently expanding around the world. The platform is also the international home to Bluey, except in Australia where ABC iview remains its home.

All episodes of Bluey are currently available, excluding "Dad Baby".

Notable changes in Disney+ prints[]

Main article: Censorship of Bluey

Disney+ is known for making noticeable edits to the show when streamed in the U.S., these range from different words being used to entire episodes being removed. This was most likely because parents in the United States are not used to kids shows showing the type of content censored, and may have complained about it being inappropriate if it was left in. As such, American broadcast television prints will utilise these prints, and very rarely will these find their way into Australian physical home media releases.

Notable examples of edits included a zoomed-in "Faceytalk" shot of Muffin as she barges into the toilet that Trixie is in, cutting Trixie, who was using the toilet, off the shot completely (this was notably reverted on May 2023). Edits made to Australian prints may be present, such as in "Flat Pack", or may not be present, such as in "Escape", where most of the time, you would hear the word "pick" being used to describe the tool the duo uses to break open the manhole cover. Disney prints keep the word "axe".

As Seasons 3b and 3c rolled out, reports of lesser edits made to Season 3b episodes out of the gate compared to 3a surfaced, with two being made out of the bunch; in "The Decider", a regional difference regarding flogging the other team was edited to beating the other team, and an Unicorse line in "Puppets" about offering Chilli a lick of (sweet) chilli sauce was edited to him asking her if she wants a bit of it. Out of the 3c bunch, if you exclude the edit to "Exercise", only "Relax" was edited so Bandit can call the girls "super troopers". In addition, more episodes have been uncensored.

As BBC Studios handles distribution of all prints, and Ludo Studio made an edit to "Exercise"'s master print to remove the opening sequence, it keeps its 6-minute runtime when released on Disney+ alongside the rest of 3c.

Unavailable episodes[]

In extreme cases, Disney+ would exclude episodes entirely due to a specific factor.

As of July 2023, one episode, "Dad Baby", is unavailable on the platform as a whole; for the longest time, "Teasing" was unavailable on the platform, before its addition alongside the Season 3b episodes on July 12, 2023. Due to its subject matter, "Dad Baby" is excluded from any Disney print but remains in active circulation outside of the platform for viewer consumption (i.e. iTunes through the Apple TV app).

In addition, the episodes "Family Meeting" and "Smoochy Kiss" were also unavailable from the platform before it was released on October 2022; "Smoochy Kiss"' addition to the platform made it the earliest arrival of a Season 3b episode, so when the rest of the segment was added on July 12, 2023, "Teasing" subbed in for "Smoochy Kiss" and became the latest Season One addition on the platform (take note of regional differences here).

Trivia[]

  • Despite being one of the few shows on the platform not actually owned by Disney apart from distribution rights, Bluey gets a lot of promotion on the platform, and could even be considered a flagship series for Disney+. This is possibly because the show has been reported to be enjoyable across all age demographics for different reasons, which fits in nicely with Disney+ being marketed as a streaming service the whole family can enjoy.
    • Bluey's popularity allowed it to gain a set of Disney+ iconography users could use, which was released with the Season 3b episodes.
    • In addition, Bluey has been shown to be the most popular series on the platform, showing on the trending category and consistently trending within the top ten; it may be displaced by new additions to the platform, as shown during, as of July 2023, the release of Marvel's Secret Invasion, but, if you exclude such, Bluey remains the number-one series on Disney+ as of July 2023 trailing Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family.
    • Bluey's presence amongst the top ten trending series makes it unique, for it is one of the non-Disney owned series to do such (considering Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family are both Disney-owned through the American Broadcasting Company).
    • Bluey is the second most-watched series on the platform in total after The Simpsons.[1]
