Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound is the thirty-second episode of the first season of Bluey.
Synopsis
Bingo is sick in hospital, so Bluey and her Dad make, and send her a homemade video to lift her spirits. It tells the tale of Barnicus' quest to heal her spotty dog named Bumpy.
Episode Recap
Bingo is in the hospital and down in the dumps. She laments her situation to her mum, who receives a video message from Bluey and Bandit back home to cheer her up. Bluey has also designed a title card for the video, which she calls "Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound".
Barnicus (portrayed by Bluey in purple underpants) longed for a puppy of her own. She would always say the same thing to others, even a shopkeeper (Bandit with purple underpants) who tells her to wish upon a star, as dreamers do... perhaps her dreams will come true? And indeed she did. (Meanwhile, half the backdrop falls off.) The very next day, she found out she's now got a puppy of her own, which she named Bumpy! (Bumpy, however, shows resistance when she bites the director.) The nurse tending to Bingo watches the story unfold, asking her why everyone is wearing purple pants.
Barnicus bonded with her new pup, going everywhere together. (However, Bumpy bites the shopkeeper.) Her wish fufilled, Barnicus was finally happy... until Bumpy fell sick. Days and nights passed... there was no sign of Bumpy getting any better. Barnicus asked around for help; a fisherman, a builder, the shopkeeper Bumpy bit earlier... there was no one who can tend to her. However, a baker, using a particularly beautiful vase (and having trouble with her lines as it's Muffin) directed Barnicus to the Wise Old Wolfhound! As Blu- she means Barnicus leaves the bakery, the baker lady tipped over the particularly beautiful vase (it's Chilli's. Oops. Bandit is sure the scene can be edited out during post, but it wasn't.)
Barnacus ran across the forests (backyard) to get to the Wise Old Wolfhound's tent. While not a puppy doctor, the Wise Old Wolfhound (using Chilli's bathrobe) demanded Barnacus bring her a pair of purple underpants so she could help. Specifically, a pair from someone who had never been sick before - so Barnacus was counted out as she had a runny nose last year, so she took the shopkeeper's... but he had... BUM WORMS.
Out of the question. The baker had "wabies"; the fisherman and builder were out of the question; no luck at all.
It's not fair.
However, she finally realised that being sick is a part of life - and everyone will inetivably get sick. Barnicus spent time with Bumpy, eventually waking up to see she wasn't sick anymore! Cue outro: everyone bows, and Socks bites Bandit.

Trivia
- The plot of this episode is likely an allusion to the story of Kisa Gotami which is one of the more famous stories in Buddhism.
- This is the only episode to have the title card shown on a screen as part of the narrative.
- Fittingly, Bluey says "This story is called..." instead of "This episode of Bluey is called..." when introducing the title.
- The title of the video Bingo, Chilli, and the nurse watches is also the name of the episode.
- This episode has the longest title out of any episode in the show's history so far, with 6 words and 8 syllables.
- Running gags:
- Muffin saying her lines wrong (usually by forgetting to say Bluey's stage name).
- Bandit constantly fixing the camera or working on the video.
- Socks biting Bandit and Stripe.
- This is the only occasion where Trixie, Lucky, and Mackenzie are shown to wear some form of clothing, in this case purple underpants and a bathrobe (which Aunt Trixie wears over one shoulder like a Buddhist monk's robe).
- Long Dog: There are two long dogs in this episode:
- The first is the original long dog. It appears spread across two pages of a book that Barnicus (Bluey) reads to Bumpy (Socks.)
- This is the first time the long dog appears in the Heeler home outside of the playroom. However it is only in illustration form and not the typical toy form.
- The second is a drawing that appears immediately following the first. It is upside down near Socks and is dark blue with darker blue eyes and nose, with yellow spots.
- The first is the original long dog. It appears spread across two pages of a book that Barnicus (Bluey) reads to Bumpy (Socks.)
- It is never stated what illness Bingo has, though she is going home the next day, indicating that it's in its final stages.
- Muffin stated that she had rabies the previous week. In actuality, rabies isn't native to Australia and cannot be caught there (though related diseases can) and it is lethal. She probably did not know how rabies worked due to her young age.
- When this episode aired on Disney Channel in the US, it was paired with Fairies and Work.
