Bin Night is the Forty-Second episode of Season two of Bluey.
Synopsis
Bluey, Bingo and Dad always take out the bins. Over a few weeks, Bingo tells Dad about a new kid at kindy who is mean to her and Mum offers some good advice.
Episode Recap
Warning Spoilers!
Bandit, Bluey, and Bingo are taking out the garbage. Bandit uses the wheelie bins as puppets to make it fun for the kids. They have a brief conversation with their neighbour Doreen, then head in. In the morning, Chilli hangs out with the kids as they wait for the bin man to come. She gives Bingo a little advice, while Bluey uses her recorder to scare off Mister Crow, who was pecking at their garbage. The garbage truck comes, and they head in to get ready for school.
These scenes repeat until the end of the episode, highlighting the passage of time as several small plots are advanced.
- Bluey advances from white belt to yellow belt in her karate class.
- Bluey gets better at playing the recorder
- Mister Crow gets less afraid of Bluey, ultimately scaring her off from her own bins.
- Bluey observes the moon each week. When neither Bandit nor Doreen can remember if recycling is being picked up this week, she knows the answer by referencing the phases of the moon.
- Bluey asks if she can be a profession when she grows up, and her parents always say "If you like."
- Most importantly, there is a new kid at Bingo's kindy. Chilli advises her to try and make friends, but Banjo is standoffish and calls everyone names. Bingo is mostly ignoring him, until he calls her "stubby" and says she "must be two [years old]". This really hurts Bingo's feelings. Bandit acknowledges her feelings and gives her a hug; Chilli comes in the next day with a pep talk. Banjo gets in an argument with another kid at kindy, and gets his own feelings hurt. Bingo takes the opportunity to make friends with him.
The episode concludes with Bluey offering to invent a trash-taking-out robot when she grows up. Bandit declines - it seems he enjoys the opportunity to spend time with his kids.

Trivia

- The Bluey ditty is played on a xylophone giving a music box sound.
- The gi that Bluey wears in this episode has a white belt, this switches to a yellow belt by the final night, signifying she has gone up a level in Karate.
- As Bandit puts the bins out on the pavement on first night shown, Bluey nudges Bingo out of the way of the bins, so as not to be run over or in the way.
- Long Dog: This long dog is bright-ish green and is located between the bushes and the steps of Doreen's house. It is only visible on the second night whenever Doreen is in frame.
- When this episode aired on Disney Channel in the US, it was paired with Library and Swim School.
Errors
- Rubbish appears to be collected at double the pace of real life - Bluey states that both bins are collected on nights when the moon is full, half, or new - which would be weekly. They put out the red bin on gibbous/crescent moon nights, which are 3-4 days after full/half/new moons.
- The moon phases appear in the following order, which is out of sequence: 3rd quarter, Waning gibbous, Full, Waxing Gibbous, third quarter, waxing crescent. This is either an error, or the six bin nights of the episode take place over at least 13 weeks.
- The neighbors between Bluey and Doreen never seem to put out their bins.
