Episode Recap[]

Warning Spoilers! ->

The episode is shot with two characters going about their seperate days; Honey on the left and Bluey Heeler to the right. They awake in their own houses and beds, but while Honey gets up right away and makes her bed, Bluey struggles to move and drags her bedsheet with her. Honey meanwhile has made her own breakfast, made of wheat and grain, and eats quietly. Bluey however has taken to the sugary brand of cereal, though her father struggles with her to take it away.

Both girls brush their teeth separately (Honey done neatly, Bluey full of foam), where girls then spend do their respective morning jobs. Both girls have some form of sorting clean crockery, with Bluey having to empty a dishwasher while Honey physically washes up the plates of her family. Bluey has finished her jobs and then spends her morning loosely, such as by throwing a ball, finger painting, or simply just watching the fish in her pond. Honey however still has to hoover in her house, but doesn't seem to mind at all, followed by feeding her chinchilla, and getting the post from the letterbox.

Honey is then driven by her mother, Daisy, to (association) football practice, where after some dribbling is then driven to her netball group (she eats between the sports). Bluey is still playing however; building blocks into a tower, playing with her father, or having a game of Hide and Seek with her sister Bingo Heeler. It is here that Chilli calls the two sisters away as Bingo has a Mini-Hockey club to partake in, and she drives them both. Honey is at yet another extra curricular, this being in the Piano, being taught by Busker, before she is driven off by her father Marcus.

It is at this moment that all parties are headed in the same direction on the same street, and are held at a red light. Suddenly, the audiences camera split stops giving one image, as the two friends greet one another, tails wagging furiously. Both parents, after seeing the commotion, greet one another, along with Bingo. After talking (albeit silently to the viewer), the traffic light goes green, so the cars have to go on. Marcus and Chilli give a quick goodbye wave, but Bluey and Honey wave much longer out the window, well beyond when they have lost eyesight of each other.

With the camera having split once more, Chilli takes her girls to Bingo's Mini-Hockey, with both of the elders cheering her on. Honey meanwhile is at a violin lesson, learning the basics. The scene cuts to dinner, where The Heelers are having steak, while Honey's Family are having a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. The next scene has the girls bathing, with their respective fathers keeping an eye. Honey is talking calming and making sure she has cleansed all her areas. Bluey however is having a one-sided game with her father, causing him a significant headache in getting her wet. Not long after, the girls are tucked into bed, and kissed goodnight. They turn to one another, bordered only by the camera, and fall asleep, with only a faint light left on in their respective houses.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second Minisode to feature one of Bluey's friends, in this case Honey.
  • This is the final Minisode of the third batch as well as the final Minisode overall.
  • This is the first story where:
    • There is no dialogue whatsoever. (Rain has several lines at the beginning)
    • Honey is seen without her glasses.
    • Honey's House is shown.
    • Fish are shown living in the koi pond from Tradies.
    • Bingo is shown playing mini-hockey, as first mentioned in Duck Cake.
  • There are numerous references to Honey's family having British (specifically English) heritage:
    • Honey's bedroom wall displays a variety of merchandise from Harry Potter (or a Bluey equivalent).
    • Honey plays Netball, a sport that is very popular among women and girls in England (though growing popularity throughout the Commonwealth.)
      • Given Honey's bib marking, on this day she takes the position of Goal Shooter.
    • Honey is seen eating a tomato and lettuce sandwich, which is a common filling in Britain.
    • Honey plays Football (Association style, also known as soccer), which is very popular in England especially, and has had a recent growing rapport with its female teams.
    • The car number plate is 007 SAM, with 007 being a reference to the fictional British spy James Bond.
      • The SAM on the number plate is a reference to producer Sam Moor, the voice of Daisy. The 007 may be an oblique reference as well - the spy was played by actor Roger Moore in seven films.
    • The sheet music shown at Honey's violin lesson is "London Bridge Is Falling Down".
    • The family eating a roast chicken dinner, which includes Yorkshire Pudding.
  • As the two classmates about their days, a visible contrast between the two can be seen:
    • Bluey's early morning routine is much less lively than Honey's, in which Bluey struggles to get up and is much less neat; the latter can be seen both in the state of each other's beds and the presence of toothpaste around her muzzle when brushing their teeth.
    • Bluey also seems to require more "hands on" parenting as opposed to Honey, such as Bandit trying to take the bad cereal from her or Bluey trying to play in the bath.
    • Honey is more than happy to do jobs around the house, such as washing up or hoovering. Bluey however seems discontent with emptying the dishwasher.
    • Honey tends to have more activities in her day as opposed to Bluey. While Honey does things such as netball or piano lessons, Bluey is playing with her parents or sister.
  • This is the second time, after The Doctor in Season One (released six year prior), where Honey is one of the main characters.
  • In the garden of Honey's house, some washing can be seen, though aside from a bowtie from Marcus and a toy hat for Honey, none of the family have worn any clothing in show.
  • Next to Bluey's bed, some pieces of the panda puzzle from Promises can be seen. Additionally, the Unicorn story from Unicorse is under her bed.
    • Additionally, Sticky Gecko can be seen hanging on the wall next to her bed, alongside her green hat; both of which have come from the episode also called Sticky Gecko.
  • The globe that is in Honey's room is turned to display Australia, possibly hinting that unlike her parents (who have a Received Pronunciation/Southeast English dialect), Honey has much closer ties to her present home than her parents past one.
  • Honey's cereal is called Dreerios, presumably a portmanteau of " Cheerios" and "dreary".
  • Bluey's cereal (WORY) on the other hand, is based on the popular brand " Fruit Loops", and it's mascot is a parody to Sam Toucan, replacing him with a cassowary as a counterpart.
  • This is the second appearance of the fish pond from Tradies.
  • Honey's chinchilla is the first pet any child from The Kindy or Glasshouse Primary is pictured having, and second regarding mentioned ones (after Pretzel's former guinea pig).
  • When Honey collects the paper from the house letterbox, she runs back with it in her mouth, like a real dog would do.
  • This marks Busker's fifth total appearance in the show, after Markets, Dance Mode, The Quiet Game and The Sign. Note that in all five episodes Busker (voiced by the show's lead mucisian Joff Bush) hold musical roles.
  • At Honey's piano lesson, a portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach in dog form can be seen above the piano.
  • In the Heelers' car, less stickers are seen than usual on the sticker pad.
